Cookie Policy
This Cookie Policy explains how Vivid Beginnings uses cookies and similar technologies on our website at vividbeginnings.co.uk and on websites we build and host for our customers.
It should be read alongside our Privacy Policy.
In short: We use as few cookies as possible. Strictly necessary cookies are essential and cannot be disabled. Analytics and marketing cookies are only used with your consent.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files that websites place on your device when you visit them. They are widely used to make websites work, remember your preferences, and provide information to site owners.
Some cookies are "strictly necessary" for the website to function. Others are used for analytics (to understand how visitors use the site) or marketing (to show relevant adverts).
Under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR) and UK GDPR, we must obtain your consent before setting non-essential cookies.
2. Cookies we use on vividbeginnings.co.uk
Strictly necessary cookies
These are essential for the website to work. They cannot be disabled.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| cookie_consent | Remembers your cookie consent choice | 12 months |
| se_admin_session | Admin authentication (staff only) | Session |
| se_customer_session | Customer portal authentication | 7 days |
| __cf_bm | Cloudflare bot management (security) | 30 minutes |
Analytics cookies
We use minimal analytics to understand how visitors find and use our website. These are only set with your consent via the cookie banner.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _ga | Google Analytics — distinguishes unique users | 2 years |
| _ga_* | Google Analytics — session state | 2 years |
Marketing cookies
If we run paid advertising campaigns, we may use marketing cookies to measure ad effectiveness. These are only set with your consent.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| _fbp | Meta Pixel — ad measurement (if enabled) | 90 days |
3. Cookies on websites we build for customers
Websites we build and host for our customers use a minimal set of cookies by design. Unlike WordPress sites or page builders, our static-HTML approach means there is no CMS setting hundreds of tracking cookies in the background.
Every customer website includes, by default:
- A cookie consent cookie — remembers whether the visitor accepted or declined the cookie banner
- Cloudflare security cookies — for DDoS protection and bot detection (e.g. __cf_bm)
If the customer has chosen to add Google Analytics or a Meta Pixel (available as an add-on), those tracking cookies are only set after visitors give consent via the cookie banner on the customer's site.
4. How to manage cookies
You can manage cookies in several ways:
Via our cookie banner
When you first visit our website, a banner lets you accept or decline non-essential cookies. You can change your choice anytime by clearing your browser cookies and revisiting the site.
Via your browser
All modern browsers let you view, block, or delete cookies. Here are links for common browsers:
Blocking strictly necessary cookies may prevent parts of our website from working properly. You may not be able to log into your customer portal, for example.
5. Do Not Track
Some browsers include a "Do Not Track" setting. There is no industry-wide standard for how websites should respond to DNT signals, so we do not currently respond to them. You can still manage cookies using the methods above.
6. Third-party cookies
The third parties we work with (Stripe, Cloudflare, Google, Postmark) may set their own cookies when you interact with their services. Their cookie practices are governed by their own privacy policies:
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will show when changes were made.
8. Contact us
If you have questions about how we use cookies, please email hello@vividbeginnings.co.uk.
