The short answer
Web hosting is the service that keeps your website available on the internet. It stores your website files on a computer that sends the pages to people when they visit.
How it works
Your website is the design, words and code. Hosting is where those files run. Your domain name is the address people type to reach them. Buying one does not automatically buy the others.
A website needs working hosting for people to see it. The service also needs someone to look after its security and keep a recoverable copy of the files. Email hosting can be a separate service, even when your email address uses the same domain.
With Vivid Beginnings, you can use the hosting included in an active Care Plan or arrange a suitable host yourself. The website files remain yours after full payment and delivery. If you leave our hosting, we provide an export so you can move them. We can quote separately if you want us to handle the move.
Tell us if you already pay for hosting. We can check what you have before changing anything, including any business email that must keep working. You do not need to choose a new provider before sending your brief.
Your next step
What we need from you
Tell us who hosts your current website, if you know. Do not send passwords in your brief.
